SEO News: ChatGPT Vs Google. What’s about to come?

One of the newest, and fastest-growing apps in the world, ChatGPT is an AI technology that has the potential to change the fundamental ways that search engines work. ChatGPT was designed to mimic human conversation and can generate responses to questions posed in natural language. With this capability, many people are wondering if ChatGPT can be used to generate search results on the internet, making it an interesting technological addition to the search engine industry. But will ChatGPT be replacing Google anytime soon?

How Does ChatGPT Work?

ChatGPT is a brand-new chatbot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to assist users in finding online information. The chatbot can respond to questions using natural language and is based on the Google search engine. All you have to do is type a question into the chat window and press enter to use the tool. The chatbot will then look for an answer to your question on the internet and give you the best result.

The unique aspect of ChatGPT from other similar chatbots is that it can grasp context quite quickly. So, if you ask something such as “How does Google work?” the program will understand that you mean Google the search engine, not Google the company. Additionally, ChatGPT can also handle follow-up questions, so if you follow up the first question with “who founded Facebook?” the chatbot can respond accurately.

That being said, the chatbot is still in its research and collection phase, is not fully functional as of yet, and is on a limited server, so not everyone can use it at once.

What Does it Mean For Search Engines?

ChatGPT could take the place of traditional search engines if it could provide users with high-quality results for their queries. It would have profound effects on how online information is accessed. Businesses, for instance, that rely on traffic from search engines to increase sales would need to find different ways to reach their audience.

The program would also change the way SEO (search engine optimisation) works. No longer would companies use keywords and other such tactics and have to change towards providing content that ChatGPT could use to generate good results.

In addition, content creators would see new opportunities. They would no longer need to use search engine visibility or the algorithm to have their content seen, they would simply need to make content suited for ChatGPT, and this would lead to greater views, leads and visits.

Will ChatGPT Be Replacing Google?

Not just marketing experts, but also the team at ChatGPT believes that it cannot replace Google. This is because ChatGPT only answers questions and provides information, whereas Google is designed to answer search queries by indexing the internet. ChatGPT will give you the response it deems most correct (even if it isn’t) and Google will present you with the information for you to find the responses yourself.

Before even competing with Google, there are some improvements that ChatGPT has outlined it should undertake, and these are as follows:

  • Adapting to Domain-Specific Conversations: This will allow the model to learn from industry-specific data to perform better, such as finance, healthcare and the like.
  • Increasing Emotional Intelligence: This will improve the model’s ability to recognise and respond to emotions in a conversation.
  • Better Contextual Understanding: To improve the chatbot’s ability to understand context in conversations and respond accordingly.
  • Better Consistency: This means that ensuring responses will be consistent with the context and prior statements in a conversation.
  • Increased Diversity and Inclusivity: This would better the representation of diverse perspectives and such experiences in the training data to produce well-rounded and inclusive outputs.

It’s clear from looking at the above that ChatGPT will not be replacing Google in its current format, but will continue to grow and change in interesting ways.
